The rugged men on St. Kilda had to do the best they could with the few natural resources they had.  One thing they had in abundance was sheep.  Sheep skin produces a natural oil called lanolin, which coats and protects their wool.  We figured lanolin should be good for the wool growing on your face, too.  We were right!  Lanolin is a wonderful conditioning agent that locks existing moisture into the hair and draws in additional moisture from the surrounding air.  People with thick, curly hair have long found lanolin to be excellent for softening their hair.  We've combined the benefits of lanolin with beeswax, shea butter and jojoba oil to produce an absolutely amazing conditioning wax for your beard. Beard wax will not only protect your beard from the elements, it will also help tame any flyaway hairs and keep your beard looking its best all day long.

HOW TO USE IT

Our Beard Wax applies the same as our beard balm.  Scrape about a nickel sized dollop out of the jar with your thumb and place in the palm of your hand (less for short beards, more for long beards).  Rub it around in your palms until it is melted, and then apply thoroughly to your beard. Make sure you get all the way through to your skin.  Work the wax through your beard (don't forget the 'stache).  When the wax is thoroughly applied, comb your beard to neaten it out and evenly distribute.  

TIP: For maximum moisturizing effect, apply St. Kilda Beard Oil about 15 minutes before applying Beard Wax.

SCENTS:

  • TREEBEARD: The fresh scent of a pine forest! Very similar to the Scotch Pine scent in our beard oils and balms. Made from scotch pine and cedarwood essential oils.
  • SHEPHERD: A natural scent that is both fresh and woodsy, featuring scotch pine and cedarwood blended with teatree and clove essential oils.

WHAT'S IN IT

  • LANOLIN:  See description above. Lanolin is a mixture of fatty acids, wax esthers, and a complex mix of other organic compounds which are very effective at penetrating the surface of hair and enhancing moisture retention.

  • BEESWAX: Bees make it, so it's a natural product.  It has a nice feel, a light, pleasant smell, and is rich in Vitamin A.  It's what gives our shepherd's wax its hold.

  • SHEA BUTTER: Another natural product that comes from the nuts of the African Karite tree. It's full of Vitamins A, E and F as well as antioxidants, so it's great for your skin.  It's often used on its own as an anti-irritant.

  • JOJOBA OIL: This is actually a liquid wax. It is very similar to your natural skin oils and therefore is easily absorbed by the skin.  It contains vitamins A, D and E, all of which are good for your hair and skin.

In other words, it's all natural stuff that you want to put on your face.

St. Kilda Beard Care products are available seven different scents, each made from therapeutic grade, 100% natural essential oils.  We do not use fragrance oils in any of our products.

  • PATCHOULI MINT: Patchouli, Cedarwood, and Spearmint. The rich, slightly spicy earthy scent of patchouli blends with the light and refreshing scent of mint to create something truly magical in one of our most unique scents.
  • GHILLIE:  Vetiver, Orange, Rosemary and Lavender. This organic, earthy smelling blend is evokes memories of a day spent stalking the deer through the damp heather, with dirt under your nails and the threat of a thunderstorm in the wind.
  • SUNDAY MORNING:  Frankincense, Myrrh, and Coffee. Our holiest scent!  It smells like that moment when the incense at High Mass wafts into your mustache and blends with the remnants of that morning's cup of Java... in other words, heavenly.
  • EXSULTET: Frankincense, Patchouli, Myrrh, Balsam, Lavender. A rich, heady scent reminiscent of the sacred chrism used at baptisms in many Catholic and Orthodox churches.
